Dave Pitman built 485inc on clever, concept-driven design that stands out in crowded markets. As the business matured, his goal shifted from demonstrating capability to attracting new types of clients while deepening relationships with existing ones.
To do that, the brand needed clarity. Prospective clients needed to understand who Dave is, how he thinks, and why his approach to creative drives meaningful action. The objective was to sharpen 485inc’s positioning and create content that reflected the same intentionality and discipline delivered to clients.
Strategy as the Foundation
We began with a Brand Storytelling Workshop to bring outside perspective and structure to the brand. Through this process, we clarified 485inc’s core purpose, differentiators, audiences, and messaging direction. The resulting Brand Storytelling Blueprint became the narrative foundation for the engagement and continues to guide how 485inc communicates across marketing efforts and client conversations.
Strategic clarity did not happen in a single meeting. Ideas evolved through ongoing collaboration - in structured sessions, but also in more organic settings, from casual hangs to family dinners and even ski lift rides in Breckenridge. Those conversations deepened alignment and trust, while the creative direction itself was defined intentionally in pre-production.
This foundation shaped every creative decision that followed.
Centering the Human Story
Prior to this engagement, 485inc primarily showed up through finished work. We repositioned the brand around Dave himself, placing his mindset, passion, and discipline at the center.
We developed a cohesive video ecosystem following The Golden Toolkit, our proven framework for small businesses that aligns creative to the marketing funnel. The Brand Film established emotional connection and point of view. The Explainer Film clarified how to work with 485inc. The Testimonial Film reinforced trust through third-party perspective. Social-first cutdowns extended visibility, and a behind-the-scenes collaboration film documented the creative partnership.
Creative decisions were made deliberately in pre-production and executed with precision during filming. Dave’s trust in the process allowed for elevated creative without unnecessary friction.
Producing at the Brand’s Standard
Filming took place across multiple days and locations in North Carolina using cinema and macro lenses, advanced lighting packages, and aerial cinematography. Every frame was crafted to reflect care, control, and refinement.
From the outset, we committed to presenting 485inc interviews and b-roll in black and white, reserving full color for client testimonials and finished work - an intentional visual strategy executed through lighting and composition that mirrors Dave's belief that the client's work, not the designer, should command the spotlight.
The objective was clear: sell creative services creatively, ensuring the marketing met the same standard as the work itself.
Activation and Optimization
Workshop Media led activation across platforms, writing optimized titles and descriptions, implementing keyword tagging, adding full captioning, and structuring SEO to support discoverability.
We also developed and executed a sequenced rollout strategy. The Brand Film anchors the website experience, supported by the Explainer and Testimonial Films at key engagement points. Social cutdowns extend reach and maintain ongoing visibility.
This was not simply asset delivery. It was structured deployment.
485inc now operates with a clearly defined narrative anchored in strategy and expressed through cohesive, high-level creative.
The Brand Storytelling Blueprint continues to shape how the brand approaches marketing and communication. By placing Dave at the center, 485inc presents as personal, differentiated, and aligned with the types of clients he seeks to attract.
